The National Association of Waterproofing and Structural Repair Contractors, Inc. (NAWSRC) is a professional trade association serving the public and waterproofing, structure, and foundation repair industries. Members of the NAWSRC are required to uphold strict Standards of Practice and Canon of Ethics as established by the industry. This insures the public that NAWSRC contractors have the highest degree of knowledge, standards, ethics, and quality of workmanship available in the industry. Since its beginning, the NAWSRC has been a champion of the rights of its members, while insuring the public that an NAWSRC-member contractor guarantees quality of workmanship and high standards of practice and ethics.

In June of 1981, four local Better Business Bureaus recognized the need for ethical standards in the waterproofing industry. At that time, the industry was in chaos, suffering from fractional infighting and consumer mistrust. These Better Business Bureaus, recognizing the necessity for self-regulation in order to avoid government control, sponsored a meeting of members of the industry to begin a dialogue toward that end.

From that meeting, six contractors met in Akron, Ohio and formed the National Association of Waterproofing Contractors. From that humble beginning, the National Association of Waterproofing and Structural Repair Contractors (NAWSRC) has grown to a membership throughout the United States. During its lifetime, the NAWSRC has flourished with representative members from all areas of the industry - residential and commercial, above-grade and below-grade, restoration, painting and roofing. The NAWSRC is the only recognized trade association in the waterproofing and structural repair industry, having both its name and logo registered with the United States Patent Office, and having received its non-profit status from the U.S. Government as a trade association for the industry in the same year - 1981. Since then, the association has grown and its scope to include all structural and foundation repair contractors, including piering, restoration, and wall repair. As a result, the association changed its name to the National Association of Waterproofing and Structural Repair Contractors (NAWSRC).

Since its beginning, the NAWSRC has been a champion of the rights of its members and consumers, requiring strict ethics and standards from its members. Its ethics have become a model for the industry. The NAWSRC Standards of Practice were used by the National Counsel of Better Business Bureaus as its criterion when it promulgated its national standards for the waterproofing industry. In the states of Indiana and Minnesota, the resources of the NAWSRC were used to rid those states of unscrupulous contractors through its cooperation with the states' attorney generals. In the state of Pennsylvania, the NAWSRC's influence dissuaded that state from forcing unfair regulation upon members of the industry located in the state.

Beyond the influence and instant credibility established by membership in the association, the NAWSRC offers practical benefits to its members. Our periodic newsletter keeps the members informed of news affecting the industry. The yearly convention and mid-year meetings include educational speakers programs on subjects relevant to the industry, supplier exhibits, and member roundtables on relevant subjects such as sales, marketing, production and management. In addition, the NAWSRC Certification Program© recognizes those individuals in the industry for their superior knowledge and dedication to continuing professional education. Other benefits include our "800 Hotline," and our NAWSRC Web Site on the Internet where consumers can obtain information about your company or obtain referrals.
